MyPhonetiser is an API used for phonetic searching and correction.
Examples of use
Example of accessing proper names
Example taken from the first page of a telephone directory in
France: " AB DER HALDEN J. ", " ABBEILLES taxi ", " ABDALLAH S. and M.
", " ABDERHALDEN J. ", " ABDILLAHI-ADEM M. ", " ABGRALL Y. ", "
ABOILARD C. ", " A CASA CORSA ", " ACCARION C. ", " ACCORSI C. " ...
All good reasons for having difficulties with finding the exact spelling!
If you are determined to meet Mr. ABGRALL, without knowing the
spelling of his name, not being sure whether it should be a "B" or a
"P", the use of a phonetiser is for you, or rather your applications!
Example of the search for the priority of brand names
Did you know, for example, that the names of new varieties of plants
are carefully controlled? Between two plant names, the old and the new,
the new name must:
- have a sufficiently different spelling (the letters must be different) and
- be phonetically different (the sequence of sounds must be different).
This type of control before registration, at the risk of the
applicant, may represent hours of work by an expert in the consultation
of brand name data bases. A phonetiser saves a considerable amount of
time for the expert in this type of application, even when he has an
advanced data base.
Other examples
- Production of a spelling corrector application for everyday
French words (approximately 400,000). For example: proposing 'probable'
from 'probbable'
- Searching for different written forms (transcription) used to name the same person in a document base (eg.: ELTSINE or IELTSINE)
- Construction of a phonetic index for a document base or directory to facilitate or make possible its consultation
